The long history of coaching can be traced back to 1941. They were founded by Lillian and Miles Cahn under the name of Manhattan leather bags. The founder of the company was very impressed with the design of the baseball glove, which inspired him to create handbags with similar properties. He collaborated with six artists to create a series of 12 handbags. These bags are like baseball gloves, made of tan, soft, high-quality leather, and have excellent sewing techniques and craftsmanship.

Bonnie Cassin Times
In 1962, Coach hired Bonnie Cashin. Cashin has injected new vitality into the company. Due to the use of industrial hardware and organic materials such as leather, wool and jersey, she is considered a pioneer in American sportswear. Cashin is credited to the brass toggle fittings on Coach bags and Coach duffel bags.

Cashin's motto is "make things as light as possible, simple, as powerful as possible, and as cheap as possible" This means that her first collection uses a classic, simple design, but with rich colors. Handbags are usually made in bright colors, such as brick red, pink, mustard yellow and grass green. The interior is made of striped Madras cotton, which soon became her trademark.
